What They Say About Us
Our goal in the Arlington ISD is to prepare our students for their life after graduation. Our partnership with Mary German and the Travel & Sports Legacy Foundation allows us to do that. Through internships, tours, field trips, training exercises and scholarship opportunities, our students have received a taste of what their life can be like when they graduate. We’re grateful for that partnership and excited to see where it takes us in the future.

The Southeast Campus of Tarrant County College has had a long-standing relationship with the Arlington Convention and Visitor Bureau. One of the highlights of our collaboration has been with our Hospitality Management and Culinary Arts Programs. Many of our graduates find gainful employment within the Entertainment District of Arlington directly related to the internships that they are afforded in these various venues. A large number of our students have received scholarships from the Travel and Sports Legacy Foundation and their success, in many cases, is dependent on these scholarships. We look forward to continuing to work with the Travel and Sports Legacy Foundation and are grateful for their continued support of our students.

I have been working with the Travel & Sports Legacy Foundation for over one year to assist with workforce initiatives and create tourism opportunities. The foundation’s board is dedicated to the needs of the tourism community and they work hard to offer a number of work experience opportunities giving youth a range of on-the-job experience. I am excited to work with this group of professionals dedicated to serving youth and underserved communities. I look forward to helping the foundation in the future.

By establishing relationships with industry partners, schools can better prepare students with in-demand skills and provide pathways to rewarding careers. The success of students, and any program, is dependent upon industry and education working together. I believe that the members of the Travel & Sports Legacy Foundation take this to heart. The partnership between TSLF and the Arlington Independent School district has made strong progress in the endeavor to build a firm foundation in the Travel and Tourism pathway for students, while seamlessly building a bridge from high school programs to the Travel and Tourism Industry and our community as a whole. Our partnership created a framework for building educator capacity which influences student outcomes. Additionally, the partnership creates direct access to student internships and job experiences that integrate skill sets learned in the classroom with those on the job. TSLF has made it possible to enrich classroom learning by providing educational opportunities and connections to industry partners, by developing mentorships, and by providing curriculum for both our teachers and students. I am grateful for the opportunities that the TSLF Foundation partnership has afforded both staff and students in the Arlington ISD and I look forward to many years of collaboration.
