Teach Tourism Grant

The Teach Tourism Grant Program will offer secondary school teachers the opportunity to apply for funds to support hospitality services and culinary arts projects and programs. Grant funding can be requested for Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) and Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs and activities including field trip transportation, materials, equipment, and industry certifications.

Education Forum

TSLF’s Education Forum is a one-day educational session for hospitality services and culinary arts secondary school teachers. Teachers will learn about the future of tourism in Arlington and Sports Events while interacting with industry professionals by participating in panel discussions and tours. Teachers will earn CEU credits.

Educators to Employers Online Platform

The online portal will provide an opportunity for educators and tourism employers to discuss workforce issues, exchange ideas, and share information about tourism and sports management related opportunities. Educators and employers can now connect online in a safe and secure platform monitored by TSLF. Available January 2025.

40 Futures Initiative

The 40 Futures Initiative is a program that aims to transform the lives of 40 economically disadvantaged youth from local high schools by providing innovative life skills training that includes personal discovery assessments and coaching, entrepreneurship, business presentation and leadership development, and financial literacy sessions. The program will be offered to Arlington ISD seniors interested in careers in hospitality, travel and tourism or culinary arts.

Summer Sports Program

TSLF will partner with UT Arlington and Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tarrant County (BGCGTC) to host its second annual summer sports camp. The program will be held at the Maverick Activities Center on UT Arlington’s campus and will provide an opportunity for students to learn about different sports, listen to guest presentations, and improve their leadership and communication skills.

TSLF SCHOLARSHIPS

The Travel and Sports Legacy Foundation Scholarship Program supports students pursuing studies in the field of Culinary Arts or Hospitality Management at Tarrant County College Southeast Campus. The scholarship will provide a monetary award for students who maintain a GPA of 2.5 for fall and spring semesters. Students enrolled in Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management programs will learn to integrate hands-on technical skills with supervisory and business management capabilities and will have the opportunity to earn a degree in Hospitality Management or Culinary Arts or certificates in Baking and Pastry, Culinary Arts, Catering/Private Chef. Six (6) $1,500 scholarships will be offered annually ($750 per semester).

TSLF offers scholarships to UT Arlington Kinesiology Sports Leadership and Management (SLAM) students (available for juniors and seniors). Two (2) $1,000 scholarships will be offered annually.

All scholarship recipients will be offered the opportunity to be mentored by life coaches.

TRAVEL & SPORTS CAREERS 180 PROGRAM

Travel & Sports Careers 180, TSLF’s preeminent guest speakers’ program, brings industry professionals into high school and college classrooms to speak to students about careers in the thriving travel, tourism, and sports industries. The program was named after its promise. Careers in travel, tourism, and sports are upwardly mobile, can help change lives, and create career opportunities for individuals from economically disadvantaged communities.
